Our Grower Training Program immerses participants in various aspects of farming. In this program, we are offering learning space for local growers who are passionate and committed to growing nutritious food in the region. Our program is an intensive experiential education program focused on providing the skills, inspiration, and experience necessary for participants to embark on strengthening or starting their own growing efforts with confidence. Our training program integrates traditional cultural knowledge with the best re-generative growing practices, shared in a culturally grounded, hands-on learning environment. Participants will learn in a hands-on setting and will work alongside experienced farmers in local passive solar greenhouses, hoop houses, gardens and fields in the region.

Experienced and emerging farmers from Hopi and surrounding Indigenous communities are welcome to apply and are prioritized. Farmers committed to completing the entire training series will be given priority. Participants who complete the program will receive Certificates of Completion from Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture.

What you will learn: Gain the farm skills necessary for growing success: building healthy soil, passive solar greenhouse growing, rainwater harvesting, irrigation, composting, farm planning, bio-intensive gardening, dry-farming, extending the season, harvesting, seed saving, garden/field preparation, orchard-keeping, and much more!

Training Sessions: Saturdays 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Weekend sessions will lead you through the process of growing and strengthening your own small farm.

Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture's staff will work with you to gear the program to your specific learning goals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture's learning initiatives and explore other farms.

Program Cost: This is a FREE hands-on training program. Hopi Tutskwa has chosen to cover program costs for Hopi/Indigenous participants as an investment in supporting experienced and emerging farmers.
