Hopi Farmers Market & Exchange

Hopi Farmers Market

We are partnering with the Hopi Food Co-op, Special Diabetes Program, Hopi Cooperative Extension and the Health & Wellness Coalition to sponsor the Hopi Farmers Market & Exchange. The Hopi Farmers Market & Exchange 2018 schedule is available!

Our market provides a venue for local farmers and gardeners to sell or exchange their fresh, seasonal produce directly with the Hopi community. This year we are encouraging community members to bring fresh produce, vegetables, crafts, home prepared foods, and crafts to trade/barter/exchange with farmers market vendors. Market days are festive, community-oriented events with special market events such as food demos, children's activities, face painting, seed exchange, and more!

Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture will host a booth at the market where we will sell/trade vegetable transplants, fruit tree seedlings, grape vines, flower bouquets, canned goods, and vegetables from our garden.

Here are the goals and objectives of the Hopi Farmers Market:

Goal: To provide a FREE event for the Hopi community to learn ways to strengthen our own local food system, to support locally grown food by connecting farmers to consumers, and to provide a space for homemade goods and local produce to be sold or traded.

 Objectives:

1. To provide educational opportunities with “hands-on” teaching for intergenerational learning on topics such as gardening, food demonstrations, and more.

2. Connecting the famers to consumers by creating a space to sell or trade their produce.

3. Promoting health and wellness by hosting a run, along with information such as, learning where your food comes, how to establish gardens, learning about the stages of produce (eggs, honey, and garden vegetables).

WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING FARMERS, GARDENERS, LOCAL FOOD/CRAFT VENDORS FOR THE 2018 HOPI FARMERS MARKET & EXCHANGE SEASON!
